The fall play is upon us, with the performances being on Thursday, Nov. 20, and Friday, Nov. 21. The play brings fascinating talents from various people around the school. Many people come to watch plays and musicals for the on stage performances, but they do not know the ins and outs of what goes on behind the scenes.
The tech crew is equally important to the acting that is seen on stage. Plenty of things go into a production. These things include: spotlight operators, light board operators, sound technician, stage manager, assistant stage manager, stage hands, props, wigs, makeup and costume.
In this year’s fall play in particular, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” the show leans heavily on the tech crew. The play calls for expertise in all fields to make sure everything runs smoothly. Sophomore Corrina Marvin, who is new to tech crew, is especially looking forward to being stage manager.
“I knew I wanted to do a role in the play, but I didn’t want to be on stage, and I knew I could do a leadership role,” Marvin said.
Former tech crew members are also looking forward to the play. Some people may choose to be off stage one year, and then on stage the next. Both offer fun experiences based on what one prefers. The former props manager in last year’s play is currently experiencing the on stage life.
“I prefer being on stage,” senior actress Colleen Ney said. “I think it’s more entertaining and you build a better relationship with the cast members.”
