Students at SCHS are building leadership skills through FCCLA and activities like Coffee Friday.
“I feel like students across the board enjoy a treat in the morning and I think its super beneficial for our members to expand their knowledge,” said sponsor Elizabeth Laley.
Coffee Friday started three years ago because Laley heard about the activity during a regional meeting and adjusted it to make it work for SCHS. FCCLA is a student organization that focuses on many career skills and working up to different projects and activities that help them prepare for the future.
Coffee Friday is a event that happens every two weeks where the members of the group provide different style drinks and treats. Doing this simple gesture helps brings the students and staff together while giving each FCCLA member an experience in leadership and working with others.
“I feel really happy about being a member of FCCLA, and I feel that we are a close tighten family and everyone in our group is a good person,” said FCCLA Captain Shavon Kyem.
Kyem believes FCCLA brings others together and helps everyone get close to build a good relationship with one another and builds communication.
“I like Coffee Fridays because you can see how the drinks are made, and it isn’t the same drink over and over again” sophomore Tyler Croft said.
FCCLA continues to grow, and students look forward to expanding events like Coffee Friday to find new ways to build community, leadership and basic skills for the future.
