In the upcoming 2026-2027 school year, Courtney Gibson, the current choir director, will be taking over the theater classes at St. Charles High. Currently she directs Madrigal, Treble, Concert and Mixed choir at SCHS, along with the choir at Hardin Middle School. Next year, she will be full-time at SCHS with the extra classes of Drama 1, and Actor’s Studio in the fall, and Drama 2 and Tech Theater in the spring. Gibson is excited to teach drama because she actually has her undergraduate degree in theater.

“It will be nice to be in the building all day long,” Gibson said. “I have never been in the same building all day long in my entire career. It will also be nice not to eat my lunch in my car.”

Freshman Ryan Cox thinks this will be a good change. Cox was enrolled into Theater 1 this year, but dropped out to join choir because he said the class didn’t know how to pull themselves together and were rowdy.

“Now that Mrs. Gibson is here, it will make things a lot easier,” Cox said.

Sophomore Logan Ruesch is also excited for Gibson to be here full time next year. Ruesch enjoys having her for choir and the musical, so he enrolled into a theater class next year.

“I’m happy she’s going to be here next year and I’m happy to have her as my teacher in that class too,” Ruesch said.
