There are a handful of winter sports, and some Danceline members are choosing to double up this winter season by joining wrestling. Dance competition season is nearing while freshmen Mia Brown, Lilith Ellison, and Lillian Trauterman have all decided to add wrestling to their activities after dance. All of them believe during this tough, busy time that communication, time management, and priorities are most important to focus on.
“It really takes a lot of hard work,” Ellison said. “You have to manage your time very well and also you have to really take care of not only your mental, but also your physical [health].”

She loves being able to have a bunch of people to lean on with two teams and two groups of coaches.
But, through the relationships these girls are forming through both teams, their teammates are keeping them put together.
“The best thing would probably be just having the support and knowing more people and getting to know more people,” Trauterman said.
All of them said that this schedule causes them to be drained and tired, but the support from not only their teammates but also their coaches help that feeling.
The coaches on the wrestling and dance team are very supportive of their athletes taking on the tough task of two sports in one season.
“I feel like you need a good coach that is willing to work out things,” Brown said. “I feel like my coaches are very out there to help with anything.”

However, these three shining freshmen aren’t the only athletes on the dance team doing a second sport this season. Sophomore Lily Black decided to continue her career as a swimmer this year while staying a dancer. Being in her second year of doing this, she has been through it all. She claims it’s hard to manage her school work and everything else, but she loves being busy doing something she loves.
“Just make sure you know your priorities,” Black said, “and if you’re getting behind, make sure you get your homework done and know when to stop because sometimes your body can’t handle that much every single day.”
