This spring for baseball, about seven brand new players joined the JV and varsity teams. The coaches that will help these brand new players and past players are Coach Brad Bichel, Coach Austin Forney, and Coach Cody Thorne.
“This is my first year on baseball and I’m happy that I joined,” freshman Carson Maxey said. He feels that practice has taught him so much more than he had thought originally. Maxey says that baseball isn’t his primary sport, but he isn’t willing to quit even though he has less experience than the rest of the team. Jackson Bodeux is another first year player who really likes the coaching staff.
“I like Coach Thorne. He’s pretty cool,” said Bodeux.
Other players agree.
“I like my coach, Coach Thorne,” said Sam House.
The new players love the coaches, but they do prefer Coach Thorne.
“The baseball team players all have their own talent,” Coach Thorne said. He is glad that the team brings in their own ideas so he can make everyone have an awesome season.
“I have coached for a total of about 9 years now, all age groups” Coach Forney said.
Each coach stated that they coached baseball for a couple of years, so that brings each coach’s experience together making their team stronger than ever. There is so much positive energy on the team, both teams to be exact that really makes the coaches happy. Each player isn’t left out no matter how popular or non popular, everyone helps everyone.
At one practice a brand new player caught a ball twice and after the practice when the team gathered around they started to cheer on that player making the player very happy and they knew that they found people that cheered him on even though he caught only the ball twice. That proves that everyone on the team is there for each other and they are happy no matter if they lost or not.
As time goes on the older players start to grown fond of the new players.
“It’s fun,” junior Matthew Robertson said. He’s been playing for about 15 years. Between older players and newer players, they all get along pretty well.
