There’s been a new edition added to the gymnasium; an upgrade of the old “big screen,” to make it larger with an additional smaller screen on the opposite side adjacent to the visiting bench. Many sports have plans for this for their home games/meets. The screens will use the Adobe Premier Pro and After Effects combined with Mr. Zacheis class to project anything they can create.

“We heard about it, but our coaches haven’t [officially] talked about it… I hope we can like, create something to troll, but funny and cute to play during the games,” Addie Blair, a basketball point guard and shooting guard said.
Mike Zacheis, an Industrial tech teacher, has been working closely with Activities Director Ben Owens to try to get the screens up and running. They plan to have a media day with various sports teams in the upcoming weeks. The hope is to eventually involve Zacheis classes using his video production to run the screens and effects.
“As of right now I’m just kinda looking for kids that want to volunteer and help and then just kind of see where it evolves into,” said Zacheis.

The screens are from a company called Digital Scoreboard with the larger screen being 17′ x 10′ with the smaller one being 12′ x 7′. SCHS decided the digital scoreboard was the best option for them in the competitive market due to its sponsor plans, popularity and knowing various former Athletic Directors from schools around the conference.
“I can run it on an iPad…we could use it for graduation if they wanted to do that, we could do it for assemblies, we could do it for anything,” said Owens.
On top of the new boards, the technology overall has been updated to allow ease when projecting and versatility for usage. These boards and the plans are still in the infant stages, but as the possibilities grow there could be potential upgrades like a big screen outside on the football field. The screens were very affordable for the school costing little to none due to the company, Digital Scoreboard selling ad space and sponsors. SCHS Activities Department can also recommend sponsors and potentially make money back to cover the cost of the software that runs on the screens.
