The Galley is a major part of our school’s community. Most people come to the Galley all four years of high school, but many don’t see the behind the scenes of the Galley and what goes on on the inside. The impacts of the workers on the Galley staff are made in many ways, from having good customer service and helping people figure out what they want, to hustling through making hundreds of cookies within the lunch period.
The Galley has been serving people for decades and there’s no stopping any time soon.

“The Galley opened in the 70s and I started running the galley in 2014, which was also my first year teaching,” business teacher Judy Simmons said.
They constantly have new people wanting to work in the Galley each year due to how fun it is.
“I thought joining the Galley was a good opportunity to be a part of a small business and I’ve been coming to the Galley since freshman year and I thought it would be fun,” senior Isaac Black said. Many people want to join the galley because they’ve been going there for so long.

“It just seemed fun and I’ve been coming to the Galley all of high school and thought it ‘d be fun to be a part of,” senior Micah Bryson said.
Most people don’t ever know what happens on the inside of the Galley or how it works.
“Each person gets assigned a job to do for the day,” Bryson said. ” You got the window people who serve the cookies and other products to people, the person who works the register and handles the money, the cookie bakers who bake all of the cookies, and finally there’s runners who basically just help out when needed.”
The Galley creates relationships throughout the community and creates opportunities for students to experience working a job in the real world.
