The golf team at St. Charles High may be small, but they are just as passionate. Led by coach Micheal Zacheis, the team of seven players are dedicated to their sport.

“This is my fifth year as head coach at St. Charles High School,” said Zacheis. “I’ve played golf since I was pretty young, so, say a good thirty years.”

With a recent victory against Warrenton’s team on April 29, spirits are high.

Sophomore Ethan Cox is in his second year on the team. While he believes the team pales in comparison to some of their competition, he says he’s seen personal improvement, as well as improvements in the team as a whole over the course of the season.  “We actually did beat records as a varsity team, we’re actually breaking some records,” said Cox.

But it’s not all about competition, it’s also about fun.  “It’s a fun experience, I enjoy doing it,” sophomore Alexander Frese said. “Definitely looking forward to doing it my next two years.”
