Every year since October of 2021, the SCHS Key Club has been doing blood drives to support the community. This year is no different. On April 3, Key Club hosted a Blood Drive once again. Key Club hosts this event every year and for an important reason – to help the community.
“I wanted to help out with SCHS and I think blood drives are really important because donating blood helps patients,” Katie Gooch, a sophomore in Key Club, explained.
But without the Key Club members signing up to help, there would be no blood drive. One member who contributed is Morgan Simon who feels it’s an important event.
“The volunteers are required to let it run smoothly and then the actual donating portion is for giving to the cause and to inspire others to donate as well,” Simon said.
The Red Cross helped to make this event possible by receiving the blood from the donations.
“Key club is an event organization that strives to help out our community, so it is important to help your community by improving the lives of others,” Key Club sponsor Rachael Schmidt said.
In total 26 people attempted to donate but only 22 of them ended up being able to.
