On Jan. 6, one of SCSD United’s swim 200 meter freestyle relay team qualified for a State time. The relay includes Killian Bixby, Jordyn Large, Melissa Prichard, and Metabel Sanders. The state requirement was 2:05.00, and the team finished at 2:03.02, which means they are ranked on a roster and the top 32 teams will be brought to compete at State.
“One thing that has helped me be successful is the support I get from my coaches,” senior Melissa Prichard said.

In 2024, the United swim team was formed when SCW’s swim team and SCHS’s swim team joined forces due to the small number of swimmers on each team. The optimistic and encouraging environment Coach Paul Wright and Coach Lisa Graham create for the team helps boost their success, but also the environment the team makes for each other.
“The joint team has been great because it allows us to grow and build a more positive environment where everyone supports each other no matter how good we swim,” Prichard said.
Support and confidence grants everyone on the team opportunities to shine and set goals for themselves for future years of swimming.
“I would like to go to the State competition and hopefully be able to captain the team in future years of swimming,” freshman Metabel Sanders said.
Going to state is a big goal for most of the girls on the swim team.
“One of my goals [for future years] is to go to state for swimming,” freshman Killian Bixby said.
