With Christmas right around the corner, lights are hung, decorations are out and annual Christmas events are back. When it comes to sight seeing it can be difficult to choose just the right one to experience. This guide features some of the fun holiday events in our area that you can visit.
Garden Glow – Missouri Botanical Garden
Garden Glow is held at the Missouri Botanical Garden from Nov. 15 to Jan. 3; sensory friendly night is Nov. 18. More than two million lights are displayed around the garden giving an amazing display and memorable moments. There are interactive features that allow you to be in control of the lights and even photo opportunities to help you capture every moment. A holiday flower and train show is included with admission and private fire pit rentals, dining packages, photos with Santa and even a gift shop are available within the garden. General admission price for non-members ages 13 and up is $24 and ages three to 12 is $12.

Wild Lights – St. Louis Zoo
Wild Lights is held at the St. Louis Zoo with select nights only between Nov. 28 and Dec. 28 from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.; sensory friendly night is Dec. 8. A walk through of entertainment is seen from themed areas all around and displays that consist of a million lights. New to Wild Lights this year is pictures with Santa every night through Dec. 23 and a holiday market where you can purchase all your festive souvenirs. Children are able to participate in activities and make crafts that they can bring home. Breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus’ Dinner is also available with ticket purchase only. For non–members the Wild Lights price is $15 everyday except for between Dec. 10 and Dec. 23 where tickets cost $18.
Holiday Lights – Grants Farm
Holiday Lights is held at Grants Farm and they offer light viewings between Nov. 23 and Dec. 30 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. The Holiday Lights walk through consists of up close animal interactions and feedings, complimentary carousel rides, photo opportunities, festive food and drinks and a visit to Santa and Mrs. Claus and exclusive access to the Busch Family Estate grounds. VIP upgrades are also available and include a VIP Fire Pit at Mirror Lake and VIP Carriage Ride Tours. One ticket per person is required and children age 3 and under get in free.
The Polar Express Train Ride – Union Station
The Polar Express Train Ride is held at Union Station from Nov. 14 to Dec. 30. This train ride is a journey to the North Pole that includes the playing of the movie soundtrack, special decorations and also interacting with Polar Express characters, Santa, and his elves. After meeting the conductor and boarding the train, you will then leave Union Station where you will enjoy a reading of the classic Polar Express book, fresh hot chocolate and a cookie brought out by chefs. Prices begin at $19.99 for Holiday Saver tickets although upgrades are available to Coach, First Class, and Premium.
