Many freshmen girls decided to join the cross country team and it couldn’t have turned out better. So far this season the JV team has accomplished so much in just the first couple races that they have run this season.
A number of girls medaled within their first ever race at the First Capital’s Kickoff on Wednesday, Sept. 4. Nine girls from the JV team medaled, six of them being freshmen. One of these girls named Lily Black ran a lifetime best of 24:51, landing herself in 12th place overall in the JV girls race.
“I was focused on pushing myself to the finish line,” Black said “I was so happy to have crushed my PR.”
Another success for the JV girls team was their race at Fulton, Saturday, Sept. 21, they won their second race of the season. A few of the many victories during this race included Addy Nottmeyer landing herself in second place with a lifetime best of 26:01, and Kaliyn Yanez reached her goal card and earned herself a lifetime best of 26:49.
She herself was surprised at her success saying, “I was ready to be done, I didn’t expect to PR as much as I did.”
