The student council at St. Charles High hosts a blood drive every year to get students to donate blood for people in need. They recently held their annual blood drive on Thursday, Sept. 26 and some StuCo members helped run it. They checked people in and assisted in the room where the blood was being drawn.
Morgan Simon, who is the sophomore Vice President in StuCo, didn’t run the blood drive, but she donated her blood.
She is a big helper with the school, is in a few clubs and wrestles in the winter. She participates a lot in class and is a straight A student. She works hard and keeps herself reliable and also does her best to help others and donating blood was something that she wanted to do to do just that.
“It felt a bit odd like a vacuum on my arm but I’m still happy I did it,” she said.
Simon also said that she didn’t have any difficulties after and she was proud that she did it.
She decided to donate this year because it has been something she has been wanting to do for a while.
She has always thought that people who donated blood or did acts of service for others were amazing and they were always such an inspiration to her. Now she gets to be an inspiration for others and live up to what she has always looked up too.
“I really wanted to [donate] last year, but I couldn’t because of my age. I just really want to help people,” she said.
As the stuco meeting is ending on Sep. 30 freshman representatives Aubreigh Eagan and Carter Crumble talk to the sponsors, Skye Reichert and Taylor Beye about things at stuco. During the club meeting they talked about reminders and the homecoming dance coming up.
