This year the softball team gained a new addition to their roster, Lamia Linson. This season she was made a starting catcher for the varsity team.

During this season Linson has earned her spot in the field by playing hard every game. In addition to this hard work she exhibits she has also brought a lot of skill and passion to the game. She has proved over and over again that she is eager to play and eager to improve in the years to come.

“She brought some hitting [and] passion for the game,” said head varsity coach David Jones.

Despite the excitement that comes from playing at a higher level, there are many players that get nervous about playing at such a high level so early on in high school. Linson felt that way early on in the season but didn’t let the challenge stop her. She has managed to overcome those obstacles and used the experience to become a better player.

“It’s been a struggle…it’s kind of hard to play with people who are older than you,” said Linson.

She has also become a better player due to the upperclassmen who are around her and helping her gain confidence and more experience with the game. It seems to be easier to increase one’s knowledge of the game when the other players surrounding you are a positive influence and want to see the player excel in the sport.

“I think I’ve learned the game better due to the people who I’m surrounded by,” said Linson.
