This year the girls track team here at SCHS participated at the St. Dominic Welcome meet, and it was very successful. Many girls on the team made SCHS’s all-time list.
The “All-Time-List” is a list of the top 10 times and distances (throwing events and jumps). SCHS keeps track of this information and has lists composed of the 10 best in each category.
Runners Cecile Puati, Lily Black, and Rainey Simmons were the three who made the “All-Time-List” at the first meet. Puati participated in long jump, 300m hurdles, and the 200m dash.
“First Meet of the year, comes out and jumps and ends up fourth on the all time’s list,” Girls Track Coach Jack Moss said.
He was very proud and excited for Puati and she was proud of herself but she hoped to jump higher.
“I wanted to jump higher than my first all-time-list,” Puati added.
Puati is one of the more experienced athletes on the track team, thus has made the all-time-list multiple times. She hopes to make it again and PR.

Freshman Lily Black is one of the new athletes to the track team. Despite being young and new to the SCHS track team she has been very successful so far, starting at just the first meet.
“I was really surprised to run that fast, I’ve never run that fast ever. I just had so much adrenaline,” Black said.
Her fast running paid off and got her a spot on the SCHS all-time-list.
“It was really crazy making the list, I was never expecting to do that,” Black added.
She was very surprised and before making the list didn’t realize there was one. All of these runner’s have been very successful so far and hope to keep improving.
