This year, SCHS has 18 Homecoming court members. They are all very excited for the dance, game, and other festivities that go with it. Chase Pugh is one of the senior court members this year and was voted for by his teachers. He is excited for the assembly games and dance, but likes Prom more because he likes the food better.
“My favorite part of Homecoming is… towards the end when they start playing the good songs and everyone is in the circle dancing.”
Abi’el Terrell is one of the junior court members and is excited to be trying something new. Her favorite part of Homecoming is the football game. This year’s theme is her favorite that we’ve had, but she hopes that the music at the dances continues to improve. Terrell’s friends convinced her to run and helped her with her campaign.
“My friends know me so well, maybe I should try something and I know they’ll vote for me,” she said.
Malia Jones is one of the sophomore court members this year. Her favorite parts of the dance are dress shopping and taking pictures before the dance. She hopes that at future Homecomings the photo booth will return and that we could have a Tangled theme. She promoted her run for court with her friend Caitlyn Buchholtz on Snapchat and spread the word around to her friends during class.
“I thought it would be a fun way to get involved in our school… and I wanted to do it with friends so that we could all have fun together,” Jones said.
Jesse Ponce is one of the freshman court members and is very excited for his first high school dance. His excitement comes from the fact that he has never gotten to do anything like this before. His idea for future Homecomings is Under the Sea.
“I feel like there will be a lot of songs, a lot of hype.”
