As the end of Jeff Walker’s post as Head Principal comes to a close, a new one is sprouting quickly. Assistant Principal Ted Happel has been chosen to take his place and lead as Head Principal starting on July 1.

“It was really just excitement, because being here for 12 years, I taught at West for eight years, and then came here, but in those 12 years, this place really started to feel like my home,” Assistant Principal Ted Happel said. “So knowing that I get to lead it is amazing.”

Ever since finding out he got the job, Happel has been doing just a little bit of his new job, as well as his current responsibilities all at the same time.

“Mr. Walker is helping me by doing some of his job and doing a lot of things to get ready for next school year, so I feel I’m doing some parts of my new job and doing the stuff that I’ve always been doing with my current job,” Happel said.

Current Head Principal Jeff Walker is very happy and excited for Happel and thrilled that he can take over and lead SCHS.

“I’m very, very proud. It is awesome. I think our school community is very lucky to have Dr. Happel, he’s a good man, he’s a good educator,” Walker said. “I think the staff and the kids think highly of him. He’s just a good dude. So it makes me very proud.”
