Saying Goodbye and Celebrating
The softball program wraps up their season
The 2021 softball season has recently ended and, just like every season, the softball program says goodbye to their seniors. These seniors are Hanna Bain, Sarah Frerker, Olivia Schiffer and Jillian Vaughn. All four of them have worked hard not only this season, but the past seasons that they have played in. They played incredibly hard and never failed to make sure the team held their heads up and never gave up. It’s not only hard for the program to say goodbye to them, they also have to say goodbye to the players and coaches that they’ve met throughout the seasons.
“[I’ll miss] playing for Jones, because I’ve played with him since I was in second grade, he was my coach in second grade,” said Schiffer.
The varsity team also had some amazing underclassmen who played at the varsity level despite it being their first season playing for the Pirates.
“I think one of our biggest strengths this year was the younger players being willing to step up and play hard at the varsity level,” said Bain.
The varsity team did a great job this year of sticking together and working as a team. Throughout the season, they maintained the concept of oneness that was incorporated into the softball program.
“They got along really well as a team,” said Head Coach David Jones.
Many players on the team got honors such as Maddie Jackson, Bryten Kendrick and Rosalyn Nevois with them earning all-district honors. More honors went out to Hanna Bain, Maddie Jackson, Bryten Kendrick and Rosalyn Nevois for all-conference, and Maddie Jackson and Bryten Kendrick also earned all-region.
“It is wonderful to see them accomplish such great awards and honors. They are all very deserving of these recognitions with all the hard work and success they had on the field this season,” said Assistant Varsity Coach Jacob Holtgraewe.
