Cross country has a lot of new faces in the program this year. Over the past season the program has grown tremendously with about 10-15 new members joining the team. The new recruits have brought their positive attitudes and their aggressiveness to start off the new season.

“We’ve had some really good spirits this year,” sophomore Nate Maples said, “and we’ve had a lot of fun this season.”

Younger runners have helped raise the team average, with almost all the sophomore boys running varsity. The freshmen have also done astonishingly as well, despite the fact they are new to the team.

“[Freshman] Charlotte Anderson stood out to me the most. It’s her first year running and she has done very well,” Coach Abby Schultehenrich said.

The runners have improved quite a bit this year, and seem to keep improving at every meet.

“I feel like I’ve done well in all of my races. I’m not where I can be yet, but I feel I am improving,” freshman Slade Nagel said.
