This school year many might be wondering where Marilyn Bizelli is and why she isn’t at the attendance desk. Bizelli is now the new principal’s secretary and, while there are many new regulations and procedures due to Covid-19, she is also getting used to the new position and her new changed day-to-day.

“I don’t see the kids as much,” Bizelli said, “and I wish I could see them, a little more.”

While she has been working at St.Charles High since the year 2001,  Bizelli has been in many different schools in the St. Charles School District over the years and has worked a range of jobs.

“I worked at Blackhurst for four years, I was a para for two,” Bizelli said, “and then a lunch lady for two. Then I worked for Canteen which was Chartwells, moved to Harris for a year and Coverdell for about two months.”

With most of Bizelli’s previous experience in the district being in the lower grade levels, she did have a bit of difference switching to high schoolers, but found it was actually something she liked better.

“To be honest I was scared at first, but really didn’t take me too long to get used to the older kids because my kids were older,” Bizelli said, “ because I was kind of used to that age frame.”

As far as starting this school year, she recognizes the adapting the district has done to provide a safe re-entry and while many of the new changes and procedures have definitely been a challenge, Bizelli believes things are just being worked through as they come up and it’s been relatively a success.

“I would say it’s been the same, but different,” Bizelli said. “Different things… unexpected things and a lot of last minute stuff, but we are getting through it.”
