Playing as a Team
Girls varsity basketball team travels to tournament to compete with Lebanon, Richland and Belton
From Jan. 30 – Feb. 1, the girls varsity basketball team took a trip to Lebanon, Missouri, for a tournament. They played a total of three games, lost all three, but the girls seem to have improved much over that weekend.
Senior Sophia Marion felt that this competition was a game changer for them.
“I think in Lebanon, we played our best basketball, even though our record didn’t really show that,” Marion said. “We definitely played as a team for the first time in a while.”
As an overall team, Marion feels there are things the team can do to improve as a whole.
“I think just keeping the same energy and the same mentality that we had in Lebanon and bring it back for all the rest of the games,” she said. “I think we are doing that because since Lebanon, we haven’t lost.”
Teammate Breanna Hollowell agrees that Lebanon was a great experience for the girls.
“As a team we definitely bonded more and we were playing a lot better. We were playing really good teams and that helped us,” Hollowell said.
Since the Lebanon tournament, the team has won back to back games against Orchard Farm and Warrenton. The team will be playing at SCHS on Feb. 18 against Winfield, or on Feb. 21 against Borgia.
