From March 23-27, the week of spring break, the music department will be going on a trip to Nashville, Tennessee. In order to have a successful trip, there are current steps that students and staff are taking to prepare.
“We’ve been doing fundraisers, so we’ve had the concession stands, like working concession stands fundraiser. We are doing poinsettias right now,” choir director Courtney Gibson said.
Students have already paid their $150 deposit for the trip.
“I paid for it, my mom is on concessions so it’s been paid for, for like months,” orchestra student Maddie Harmon said.
The trip also has a fun itinerary with many different activities.
“We are going to see Sister Act, we are going to the Grand Ole Opry stage tour, we’re going to the RCA Studio tour, we’re doing a showboat cruise with a live band and dinner, and we’re doing the Nashville Zoo,” Courtney Gibson said.
While the choir and orchestra have been preparing for the trip itself, the band has been adjusting to doing a combined trip with all three music classes. In the past, they did trips separate from choir and orchestra. This is the first year they are planning one together.
“It’s exciting, I like that we’re all doing it together and kind of experiencing music together even though we do different mediums. Because, I mean, we’re all just making music, so it’s all kind of the same thing, we’re just doing it different ways,” band director Dinah Hotz said.
