The fall soccer season is underway, and the varsity boys team is off to a strong start. Their early performances have been nothing short of impressive with a 6-5 record.
Although the loss of previous seniors has left them in a tough spot, the team’s been finding their rhythm again. It hasn’t been easy, but they’ve worked to close those gaps and strengthen their team. Sophomore Greyson Guerra feels the team has found the right people to make it all come together.
“We had to fill the spots the previous seniors left…which has been hard,” said Guerra.
In addition to the shift in team chemistry, the overall team dynamic has evolved. Senior Ryan Cofield noted that in previous years much of the team’s success relied on one player, whereas this season, everyone is getting a piece of the team’s success.
“I feel like overall the team is better than it has been,” said Cofield. “We don’t give all the glory to one person.”
Although the team has found its rhythm, they entered the season unsure of what to expect. However, their recent 6-2 win over St. Charles West has given them a boost in morale. Cofield has noticed a clear rise in the team’s confidence.
“We weren’t sure we would beat West, so it helped our team’s confidence,” said Cofield.
