Quickly after the 2025-2026 School year began, St. Charles High School adopted new policies for football game attendees. At the beginning of September, a football game on High’s home turf got out of hand resulting in multiple physical altercations at the game and an overflow of guests. This game soon became widely talked about throughout the school for a few days, and following the SCHS administration pushed out a new policy. The most notable one being digital-only tickets.
“We have always been kind of wanting to go to digital only tickets, and we thought this was a good opportunity to try to do so, to prevent an overflow of people,” said Principal Dr. Ted Happel.
The night of the game, the stadium was over sold and the school had no way of monitoring the amount of tickets sold. Now they can do that very easily.
This new policy has already previously been adopted at many high schools in St. Louis and isn’t a new idea.
The new football game policies also prevent students from congregating in areas such as the bathrooms, concession, and loitering around in general which has been a problem for a while.
SCHS Activities Director Ben Owens took a big role in designing these new policies as he is the one who oversees games and activities.
“These things fall on me to make those decisions, and I did it for the best and the safety for all of the people who come and watch the game,” Owens said.
Since these protocols were implemented SCHS hasn’t seen any problems at the football games.
“The last two games have been perfect, the students have been great, everyone has been well behaved,” Owens added.
