Vengeance, the title of the new 2025 Marching Band show, is more than just kids walking around on the football field. This year SCHS’s Band of Pirates has created an exciting and engaging performance for all to see.

“It’s about these two different clashing families, kind of just fighting for power and the whole show it’s progressing. They fight back and forth and then at the end there is one final conqueror,” band director Dinah Hotz said.

On one side of the field half of the color guard, and junior Drum Major Carter Doyle wear black. On the other side, the second half of color guard and senior Drum Major Colleen Ney wear red. The band and senior Drum Major Maximilian Sheils, who conducts in the middle, are wearing blue.

“I’m like the main king, like the overseer. There is side one and side two, and I’m like the mediator,” Sheils explained. “If you notice everyone on field is wearing blue, I as well am wearing blue, so I am on their team,”

Although visually impressive, the audible enjoyment is just as exciting. With dynamics that go from quiet to loud, to surprising bursts of energy.

“It’s very easy to listen to and to watch. It creates a sense of power and emotion that you sometimes don’t really get from other shows,” Doyle said.
