On the first day of school as many found themselves hanging around in the Commons many students had the same thought, “What’s with the vending machine?” That vending machine is actually the new Spirit Box.
The spirit box is a vending machine selling snacks, drinks, and even candy (before 7:20 and after 2:20) installed in the Lower Commons, next to guidance by DECA to act as a secondary place of sale in combination with the Galley.
“To improve profits when we’re not able to be running the Galley during the day,” said DECA member Elijah Case.
However that’s not the only reason, DECA manager Judith Simmons having a slightly more ambitious reason for installing the Spirit Box.
Simmons hopes that the Spirit Box can be used for projects which “could hopefully bring DECA to nationals.”
While making more profits and getting better results in competitions is great for the school and DECA, there’s another side that’s missing: the student’s opinion. Well, they feel quite positive about the new Spirit Box.
“It’s very nice,” sophomore Logan Ruesch said.
On top of this, students also appreciate the support it brings to our school.
“I might use it if it’ll benefit DECA,” said sophomore Elijah Birch.
