On Easter Monday there was a fishing tournament that was brought to the attention of the students, run by students. Junior Taylor Souders came up with the idea, devised the plan for this tournament, and recruited people who wanted to do it.
“I came up with the idea from just sitting around and out of nowhere thinking about how I can bring people to love the art of fishing. Also bringing competitiveness to it,” said Souders.
The competitors were allowed to fish where they would like, they only had to follow the rules that were on the poster. They could even fish with a partner.

“I went to Veterans Memorial Tribute Park in St. Peters . . . I fished with Caleb Favorite,” said freshman Gordon Robben.
Quite a few boys competed during this, the winning team being Gordon Robben and Caleb Favorite with a weight of 7.24 pounds. With the success of this tournament, Souders hopes to hold a catfish tournament over the summer.
“About 20 – 10 teams of 2,” said junior Hunter Wells.
