The St. Charles High School baseball team is making waves this spring, showing strong teamwork, determination, and promising talent as the season unfolds. With new energy both on and off the field, the Pirates are building momentum toward what could be one of their most competitive seasons in recent years.
Sophomore Connor Johns, who played during the last baseball season, had this to say about the shift.
“I think that this season is a lot better than last season for a couple reasons… our existing players got in a lot of practice over the summer, and I think that has improved us a lot as a team,” Johns said.
Sophomore Ethan Kimsey, expressed a similar sentiment.
“This season I think is much better. I think we’re contributing as a team and working well together. I think our pitching has gotten a lot better, and our decision-making has gotten a lot better too,” Kimsey said.
Junior Dylan Schoene explained how the team worked outside the normal baseball season to improve their skills.
“During the off season, it was a lot of work for a lot of guys. Improving what they’re good at and finding their spot,” Schoene explained.
Head Coach Brad Bichel also gives remarks on the improvement of the baseball team, expressing how he was proud of his players and team.
“This season has been going really well for us. I think there has been a lot of growth among our players as individuals and as a team in general… I respect the advancements that we’ve made, and I think this will continue on,” Bichel remarked.
