Dual credit classes allow students the opportunity to earn credits for both high school and college simultaneously. As of next year, St. Charles High will begin offering a new dual credit class: Honors Pre Calculus.
The course will be taught by two teachers, Rachel Madden and Joseph Head.
“It really is a college level class,” said Madden. “We thought it would only be fair that they would earn college credit.”
“Any degree you get in college, you need that college math credit. … If you’re going into any kind of engineering field, sometimes business degrees, things like that, a lot more degrees are requiring calculus,” said Head.
Much like other dual credit classes, the course will be offered through UMSL, according to Guidance Counselor Julie Basler.
“We’re in conversations with UMSL right now, I know they are working with UMSL to coordinate so we can offer that course for credit.”
