On Monday, Feb. 10 and Tuesday, Feb. 11, the SCHS FBLA team competed in districts at Missouri State University. In these competitions students can advance to compete in the State Leadership conference by winning first place or by choosing a straight to State event.

“We just completed districts and had over 80 kids compete. We have around 35 students that will be competing at State Leadership conference,” said FBLA Adviser Wendy Kirchhofer.

Students who decided to compete in districts had some mixed emotions about how they would do. For some people, it was their first year competing while others returned to compete again.

“I was really nervous leading up to the competition because this is the first year where I had actual competition, but me and my team ended up winning, so everything was okay,” junior Charlotte Kulma said.

Over the past couple of years FBLA has expanded quite a bit, but they are always looking for more people to join. Most people will agree that they love being in FBLA and would encourage others to join.

“I love being a part of FBLA. It is definitely something that I would recommend to other people, it’s just a great experience to get to meet new people and be a part of something,” sophomore Porter Panhorst said.
