In the summer of 2026 SCHS will be going to Japan. Señora Lopez Reese and a growing group of 14 students will be attending this international trip.
Señora Lopez-Reese is more than excited to travel to Japan, not only because she has never been there before, but for the students going. She can not wait for them to get to experience this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. She wants them to really get to experience Japan by getting to hear the language and seeing the culture all around them.
“I think it is important to explore ANY culture that is different from ours because by exploring other cultures, by going to other countries, by eating their food we learn tradition from that country, we learn about the kinds of food that they eat,” said Lopez-Reese.
There is a lot of time and planning that goes into doing a trip like this. Lopez-Reese explained that the chaperone on the trip gets a discount, but it’s not just for going on the trip. There is so much hard work that goes on behind the scenes.
One of the students that is going is Isabella Chica-Dominguez. She is so excited for the trip. She can not wait to go to the other side of the world. Chica-Dominguez is so eager to try all the authentic Japanese food and to have a bunch of memories and experiences. She also pointed out how she is very thankful for the meetings Lopez-Reese has held and will continue to hold.
“We have only had one so far, but I think that that meeting was really helpful and detailed about the cost and what we are going to be doing,” said Chica-Dominguez.
Another of the students going on this amazing trip is Alex Kramer. He is very excited to try all the new foods on this trip. He has never traveled outside of the country before, so he can not wait to travel abroad.
“To get an experience outside of my own culture, just to see what it is like outside of the country,” said Kramer.
