This is the second year that the St. Charles High Homecoming parade was on Saturday morning instead of Friday afternoon. This was due to community participation. During the Friday afternoon parade, most people are at work, kids at school, so no one is home to enjoy it. Making this change allowed for more families to attend.
“We really wanted to see that growth in not only in how many floats that participate, but also community members being able to come out and see the parade,” said StuCo Sponsor Skye Reichert.
Organizers were pleased with the size of the crowd.
“I think Hilburn counted, maybe 300-400 people, to watch the parade along the parade route, ” said Reichert.
The parade was a success again this year, many families attended and the floats were well-made. There was about a one-mile stretch that the parade route drove through, and tons of candy was thrown out to the side lines.
“There were a fair amount of people, I think more than last year. The weather was definitely better this year; much better,” junior class president Daniel Waters said.
