On Sept. 12 St. Charles High soccer beat St. Charles West 5-0, with five different people scoring in the game. This game started strong and soon led to things getting physical. Whenever West players started to let their emotions take ‘over’ that’s when everything started.
“I was disappointed that a few of the SC West players turned to out-of-control play and acted with aggression on the field in the second half, ” said Head Coach Todd Rakonick.
There were moments where people were upset, yelling and making everything worse. It appeared that at times, the game went sideways.”
“I thought someone was gonna get hurt badly because even our coach tried to come on the field, but then we got it taken care of,” junior defender Jude Archie said.
The Pirates were calm and focused.
“Our squad played our game and kept their emotions in ‘check,’” Rakonick said
The Pirates were up 1-0 at halftime, making the game more challenging.
“I just knew we had to come out strong and get the job done,” senior forward Ethan Mercurio said.
