The varsity girls volleyball team started the season off rough, losing their first three games. They got their first win in a tough matchup with MICDS. They went through the rest of the season on the winning side, although they lost some games they should not have lost, according to team members. They went into districts 19-10-1, facing Duchesne Sept. 10 for their first game in districts.

“There were some nerves going in, but I was mostly confident,” senior Erica Swinson said. “I knew we could play and beat them, it just didn’t happen.”

During the first game, the girls were a little shaken up according to the team. Duchesne kept winning points, and won the match 25-16. The girls went into the second game a different team. They kept up with Duchesne the whole time, even shutting down Duchesne’s right hitter, Natalie Schroeder, who leads Duchesne in kills. The girls ended up losing the match 25-23, a disappointing end to the season. Their final record was 19-11-1.

“We aren’t really happy that we didn’t reach our goal, but we did play hard,” senior Molly Schultenhenrich said.

“They just did some little things better than us, that’s it,” senior Tanisha Wilson said.

Seniors, even though they played their last high school game, were happy with how much they and the team progressed over the years. Each year, the team continued to move forward and kept improving records. The seniors are very happy about how much the team has changed.

“I think the team improved every single year, and not just the team, individual players too, and I’m really happy about it,” Wilson said.
